Benchmarks is a topic tracked in our intelligence system with 5 linked articles.
An EE Times opinion piece argues that benchmarks for AI-assisted chip design must evaluate power, performance, and area (PPA) outcomes rather than functional correctness alone, as demand for workload-optimized custom silicon accelerates.
The piece catalogs ML pitfalls—data quality issues, data leakage, mislabels and misleading metrics—and advocates rigorous validation and reproducibility checklists (REFORMS) plus tooling (MLFlow/MLOps) to curb overfitting and unreliable real-world performance.
Radxa Dragon Q8B packs a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 laptop SoC into an SBC form-factor, delivering leading benchmarks and rich I/O across multiple RAM SKUs, but early software/BIOS caveats and high peak power temper its practical appeal.
Perry compiles TypeScript directly to native binaries across 25+ platforms using SWC for parsing and LLVM for codegen, delivering 2–5MB executables with no runtime and benchmarks claiming up to 18x faster performance than Node/Bun.
Liquid AI unveils LFM2.5-8B-A1B, an 8B parameter MoE edge model with 128K context, 38T pretraining, expanded tokenizer, and strong on-device benchmarking and tool-calling capabilities.
Framework 12 is a poorer value compared with the MacBook Neo, offering upgradeability at a higher price with slower performance, louder fans, and a worse display.
